Factors Affecting the Material Choice for Restoration in Posterior Teeth

Aim: To determine the factors affecting selection of material choice in posterior teeth. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study done June-December 2015 at Liaquat University Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro. Individuals who refused to participate were eliminated from sample. Each dentist signed an informed consent form. Personal data entered on a proforma/consent The collection tool was Proforma/Questionnaire with all required questions. Dentists personally briefed study's objectives importance their participation. Informed permission forms gathered one week later. Not returning questionnaires after two professional visits deemed participant loss. analysis employed descriptive statistics SPSS version 17.0. Results: 200 people responded survey. 70% advised amalgam for tooth repair, 28% recommended composite, 2% Glass Ionomer. In this study, 65% selected amalgam, 34% preferred 1% glass ionomer. series, 60% followed by composite (37%), ionomer (3%). chose while 40% composite. No 55% participants advocated 5% GIC. Patients' preferences impacted restorations study: 35% 10% Most (60%) picked moisture management, (35%), GIC (5%). Conclusion: teeth involve fillings.
